Vaccinations
Gain immunity from infectious diseases through West Coast Family Medical Care's vaccination programs.
Getting vaccinated is important, no matter your age. Your quality of life increases if you complete your vaccinations from childhood to adulthood. Vaccines can prevent serious infectious diseases by teaching your immune system to recognize a virus or bacteria that can cause diseases. More importantly, they help protect the most vulnerable and susceptible from becoming ill.
For dependable and safe vaccination programs, rely on West Coast Family Medical Care. We are a full-service medical facility that serves all your healthcare needs, including the administration of vaccines. Our professional medical specialists are knowledgeable on the vaccines required at every stage of your life and practice a compassionate healthcare approach to all our patients.
Our Vaccination Programs
Vaccination is an effective way to protect children from harmful diseases that can lead to hospitalization. However, since the protection of childhood vaccines can decrease over time, adults also need vaccines to gain sufficient protection.
West Coast Family Medical Care provides medical care for all ages, and we administer the recommended vaccines by age, which may change from year to year. Here are some vaccines we administer:
Newborns need the first of three Hepatitis B vaccine doses before even leaving the hospital. It protects vulnerable infants from chronic swelling of the liver and possible long-term complications. Unvaccinated infants may develop chronic infections that can cause liver damage and liver cancer.
It’s recommended that children get a total of four doses of the polio vaccine at the following ages: two months old, four months old, six through eighteen months old, and four through six years old. These doses will protect them from poliovirus, which can cause paralysis or meningitis.
The DPT vaccine protects against three infectious diseases: diphtheria, pertussis or whopping cough, and tetanus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people of all ages get the DPT vaccine. Babies need three shots to gain protection and require booster shots as they grow older to maintain the protection.
Flu affects millions of people every year and can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. Its complications vary from ear infections and bacterial pneumonia to more serious conditions, such as diabetes and congestive heart failure. The annual administration of flu vaccines is recommended from six months old until adulthood.
While the pneumococcal disease is more common in young children, older adults are at greater risk of serious infection. Medical experts recommended that children younger than five years old and adults older than 65 years old get the vaccine, but other children and adults can also get jabbed in certain situations.
We are also doing our part to help curb the COVID-19 pandemic. We award the Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines to individuals who meet our criteria. Our team schedules appointments to administer the COVID-19 vaccine, so if you want to set an appointment to know if you qualify, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
*Disclaimer: West Coast Family Medical Care encourages our patients to consult their physicians for the recommended vaccines and follow the general guidelines for vaccination.
